Values-Based Budgeting & Decision Making
We hope you and your budget are doing well!
β
Life's changed a lot for us lately. Here's a peek at how our vision and budget are helping us navigate this season.
π What's New
We spent the last few years renovating a mixed-use building in Knoxville, TN. The plan was to run it as co-working/ office space and Airbnb rentals.
But then we decided to move back to coastal Alabama.
Evidence that our life vision is continually evolving as we seek God's guidance and re-assess our situation and values.
β
So our building is on the market, and we're back to RV living until it sells. Proximity to the beach and great walking opportunities have eased the transition. But our return to the Airstream has included sickness*, an escaping cat**, and a long list of repairs following 8 inches of snow in south Alabama***. This season is reminding us to trust God and not take ourselves too seriously. π
In addition to moving, Nick is studying to be a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). This will be around an 18-month process, and we're so excited about how his CFP training will elevate Mapped Out Money's offerings.
I'm sure we'll dive into more details on the podcast (new episodes coming soon). But in the meantime, let's get back to the budget talk...
π² Money Minute
Our budget is a critical part of navigating unexpected expenses, clearly communicating about our vision and daily life, and making united decisions. So we wanted to share this lesson from our group coaching program, Ahead in 100, to help you think about using your values to optimize your budget.
βοΈ Craft Your Money Story
I (Hanna) am so thankful for our budget. It has enabled us to change jobs, travel, move (a lot), navigate unexpected expenses with minimal stress, and do lots of other things that seemed impossible when we first got married. Life has unfolded a lot differently than we planned and expected. And we've been able to reassess and adjust right along with it.
Many clients express concern about visioning and budgeting because they don't know how a certain situation will unfold, or they're afraid that they'll start working toward something and then fail or want to change direction.
We get it! And we're living it! But that's exactly what the life vision and budget are for... to help make you more agile so you can use your money to do more of what matters to you.
We hope this email encourages you and plays a small part in helping you craft your money story!
Until next week,
Nick + Hanna

*Weβre totally fine now. We just got the crud that was making the rounds.
**We were able to catch Elon, and heβs now happily settled back in the camper. But we gave our RV neighbors a good show with the chase. π±
***Snow in this area is unheard of. βIt never happens.β We were laughably unprepared. But weβve got things back in working order now. π€
